About Your Teacher

Fr. Mayer, grew up as an evangelical, Pentecostal Christian and then as an adult went on a quest for truth that led to surprising places. His motto was to follow the truth no matter where it might lead. His search even included an intellectual dive into atheism, Hinduism, and Buddhism. Out of college he settled on reformed Christianity, but then was drawn by the beauty he discovered in the Episcopal Church where he was ordained and worked as a protestant pastor. While seeking to bring to his people teaching from the best most complete sources he could find, he discovered the fullness of the Christian faith by seeing the Bible through the writings of Christians from the first few centuries and digging deeply into Christian history. He is excited to share with you these life changing, historic Christian teachings as they have been passed on down over the centuries.

This class is great for those interested in one or more of the following:

Historic Christianity: Protestant Christians have found this to be a great opportunity to gain a historic look at the faith and its development over the centuries

Advanced Religious Ed: Those who have taken this course have experienced a deepening faith that went far beyond the childhood religious education that they were stuck at for so many years

Completing Sacraments: Adult Catholics who are still in need of First Communion or Confirmation have taken this class to fulfill the educational requirements for these sacraments.

Becoming Catholic: This class meets the educational requirements for someone who wants to officially become part of the Catholic Church
