Deciphering the Catholic Church Service: A Workshop for the Clueless

September 16 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Deciphering the Catholic Church Service: A Workshop for the Clueless | September 16, 2024, 7:00pm

Feel awkward about attending a Catholic Mass? Not sure what to do? What’s up with all of the symbols, movements, and traditions? Is all of this a bunch of man made rituals or is there something deeper taking place that goes back to the beginning of Christianity?

If any of these questions describe you, you are going to love this interactive workshop where you will learn through the lens of historic Christianity all about Catholic use of life giving ceremony. Not only that, but by the end of this workshop, you will know exactly what takes place at a Catholic service and why and you will know what to do and what not to do at a Catholic service. Not only that, but you will be able to do this while being true to your own beliefs, and without having any worry of offending the Catholics at the service you are attending. This is your chance to get an insider view of the Mass, the Catholic Church service.

This workshop is especially designed for non Catholic Christians, though many Catholics, will find that there is much to learn as well. This evening will be led by Father Mayer, who grew up as a devout Pentecostal, then served for a time as an Episcopal Priest. He now serves as a joyful, born again Catholic Christian, and as the pastor of St. James.

Light refreshments will be served.  Please RSVP by Monday, September 9, to office@stjamescc.org or 904-999-1423 to reserve your spot and ensure enough refreshments and materials are available. Download the Flyer
