Mothering Sunday

March 19, 2023 is the Fourth Sunday of Lent, also known as Laetare or Mothering Sunday (listen closely to the introit at the beginning of Mass to learn where the name came from). On this day it is traditional to visit your mother parish, which is the place where you were baptized or where you first came into the Catholic Church. It is also a good day to go and see your mother and to visit family (Mothering Sunday goes back long before the American Mother’s Day). If you are like Fr. Mayer and your mother parish is four hours away in Tampa, you probably will not be making the trek, but you might still remember and be grateful for Mother Church and your own mother by baking Mothering Buns or come and experience the light yet sweet taste of these buns like right here at St. James! Mothering buns will be served after both Sunday Masses.
