Dear St. James Family,

This past Sunday we celebrated our patron, St. James. It was a most joyous day! As far as  I could tell, there were more people in the building than I have ever witnessed before! Thank you for coming from far and wide to be part of this special day.

A Building for St. James?

What was the big news that I have been baiting you with over the past few weeks? During the lunch this past Sunday I asked those gathered to pray and discern with us about a move to a storefront location which would put us in an excellent location for the next five years and greatly expand how we serve the local community (learn more here). I would love to have your thoughts and input on this as well as other possibilities that might be an even better fit. We need all hands on deck and eyes looking at all possibilities in order to make a good decision. I will be available this Sunday and the next between the two Masses (from about 9:15 AM until 9:40 AM) for anyone who would like to discuss this or other possibilities in greater detail.

Responding to the Crazy in the Church

This Sunday I’ll be preaching a homily on how we should respond to the wide variety of disconcerting happenings in the Church. Jesus warned us ahead of time that the Church was going to be a mixture of good and bad people and that they would not be sorted until the end. This of course has resulted in a great deal of scandal and suffering. So how should one respond? Learn this Sunday

Nametag Sunday: July 30, 2023

The last Sunday of the month, or nametag Sunday is almost upon us. Thanks for putting on a name tag as you enter. You might consider making it a goal to learn the names of a few new people and help us to strengthen the community of St. James.

Who was St. James the Greater? – Most Recent Homily

Learn about the first of the apostles to be killed for the faith, a hardworking man who spread the gospel as far as Spain, a man who is continuing to draw people to Christ even after his death. Learn about the source of his evangelizing power and how this great apostle is influencing the mission community of St. James today.
